Beach ChairsUpdate from August-September Sound Waves:

Thank you to everyone for the successful events we have had so far and thank you for your patience as we awaited the new BigToy! Life on the beach has been running smoothly. As a reminder, chairs and umbrellas are provided as a convenience for members and their guests. They are intended for general use and may not be saved or reserved. Of course members may leave their belongings if dining in the snack bar or porch, but please be mindful that if you are leaving the club for other activities (tennis, boating, etc.) please collect your belongings to allow for other members to sit and use them. If utilizing chairs and umbrellas after the beach has closed for the day, members are responsible for returning them to the storage area before leaving the Club. Unfortunately, we have seen an increased amount left on the beach in the evenings which then leads to broken items and takes staff away from clubhouse responsibilities.

The July Tuxis Swim was the largest we have seen in recent years with 34 swimmers making it look easy! Sandcastle Contest and Swim Races were all wonderful for the young members on the beach. Looking ahead, please save the dates for August.

  • Tuxis Swim: Saturday, August 2
  • Sandcastle Contest: Saturday, August 9 at 10am
  • Swim Races Saturday August 23 TBD (see MBC Calendar for Confirmation)

The Beach Committee is excited for another summer in the sun! We have been hard at work this winter working on some exciting improvements to the beach experience at MBC. We are pleased to announce that we will be christening a new play structure and swim raft!! We would like to thank the Executive Committee for providing us with the opportunity to pursue these upgrades and look forward to many years of fun and safe play. As construction starts, please be mindful of the work being completed and adhere to any warnings posted.

During the preseason we will continue to make chairs and umbrellas available for member use. These are self-service and we expect them to be put away properly when you are finished. Please remove all trash and do not bring any glass to the beach.

Maria Keogh will be returning as Waterfront Director and will continue to oversee Beach and Sailing operations. Additionally, we are very excited to announce that Grace Goddard will also return this summer as Head Guard with Addison Kociewicz serving as Lead Guard. You will see an additional 11 lifeguards throughout the week. We ask a tremendous amount of our lifeguards and are truly lucky to have them! Please review the rules of the beach, especially as you host guests.
